Minglewood Designs
My name is Angela Kearney and I am a fellow female entrepreneur. My passion for sustainable design, green building and natural resource management stems from my upbringing in the mountains of Colorado. I grew up as an active outdoors woman and learned how to be self-sufficient in the wilderness at a very young age. My interests and eclectic training in ecology, art, architecture, building and design led me to form Minglewood Designs in 2001.
Minglewood Designs is an ecological planning and design studio that collaborates with residential, commercial and institutional clients. We work in a highly collaborative process to design and build communities, homes and landscapes that are resource-efficient, regionally-appropriate and enhance the environmental character of the land. I have been highly sucessful in my business as a woman because I am a great communicator, I pay attention to detail and there aren’t a whole lot of female project managers in my field. My biggest challenge is working with subcontractors (primarily men) who are not open to innovative and efficient solutions. In the Concord area however, I have developed a network of enthusiastic, creative, innovative, dedicated, collaborating and respectful professionals. I’ve also found great pleasure in working with homeowners in the area as they are attuned to the importance of finding ecological solutions.

I work in business development at an e-commerce website called Daily Grommet www.dailygrommet.com. It’s a social networking website for women to share product discoveries. These handpicked products are fresh, interesting and haven’t hit the big time yet. Each day Grommet presents a video of the new find and opens up a live discussion blog among the viewers, Grommet, and the artisan/supplier. It’s a fun and revolutionary way to discover new products.
I love working with our team. They are all pros at what they do and really enjoy each other. Our mission is to find the best of the best for women because we know how busy women all are with our jobs, families, commitments. Who has the time to go out and find the best product? Daily Grommet is passionate about just that!
When I heard about the concept of women sharing product ideas over social networking sites, it got me really excited. Women love to share ideas and recommendations and opinions (I do!) and Daily Grommet gives us the chance to reach lots of people. We hope that as more and more women participate, we will have a really meaningful community supporting each other with authenticity and wonder!
We feel so fortunate that we are working in a market of our peers! We are all women, married, single, mothers, working, at-home, you name it! Women are so supportive of each other, its wonderful!
We wish Sisterhoodsite.com lots of success!!
